South Africa's established digital rand
ZARP is South Africa's institutional-grade digital rand: fully collateralised, independently attested and built on open blockchain rails. Build card programmes, cross-border payments, wallets and settlement on trusted rand infrastructure, without creating and governing a stablecoin of your own.
ZARP mints new tokens only when rands enter the reserve. ZARP burns tokens at redemption. Independent auditors verify the balance.
What you can build
ZARP is the rand leg your product needs. It is fully collateralised, independently attested each month and live since 2021. Build on it instead of issuing and governing a stablecoin of your own.
Settle card spend, top-ups and credit lines in rand on programmable rails. The programme holds value in the cardholder's own currency, with no USD leg on each transaction.
Open rand corridors that settle 24/7 with on-chain finality. Each corridor is subject to exchange control, licensing and partner terms in the countries it touches.
Add a stable rand balance to a wallet, app or marketplace. ZARP is a standard token, so the integration is the same one your team already knows.
Every transfer is final on arrival and carries an on-chain record. Split, escrow and schedule settlement in code. Reconcile against the chain, not a statement.
List ZARP/ZAR pairs and provide liquidity against one contract address on Ethereum, Base, Polygon and Gnosis, plus a Token-2022 mint on Solana. Approved partners mint and redeem 1:1 through the issuer.
Use an independently attested rand asset as the settlement leg for tokenised instruments and DeFi pools. On-chain rand price feeds are live on Base through IFÁ Labs.

PumpPay settles fleet fuel transactions in rand inside a live commercial payments network. The value is pre-authorised on-chain before the pump runs, settled on a delivery-versus-payment basis, and reconciled against an immutable record.
Figures supplied by PumpPay and approved for publication. The 31 sites run inside a network accepted at all forecourts in South Africa.
Instrument 01
Card programmes and cross-border platforms pay for every settlement leg and wait for every cut-off. Set your monthly volume, transaction count and current rail, and compare it with ZARP rails. Outputs are illustrative estimates, not quotes.
Illustrative estimate. Actual costs depend on partner, corridor, volume and applicable fees. Model assumptions: card acquiring at 2.75%, the midpoint of the 2% to 3.5% range typical for South African card acquiring. Bank and corridor averages: World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide, Q3 2025. ZARP rails: a 0.5% on-ramp fee, a 0.5% off-ramp fee and R2 in network fees per transaction. Float in settlement is monthly volume multiplied by settlement days over 30. Network and partner fees may apply. Not a quote.
Instrument 02
A rand float held in a USD stablecoin carries USD/ZAR exposure on every obligation. Set the balance your business holds on-chain and the period, and see the swing it is exposed to. Then see the same float in ZARP.
Illustrative, based on historical USD/ZAR movement. Not a forecast or financial advice. The bands come from typical historical USD/ZAR volatility of approximately 14% to 15% each year, scaled to the period. Currency moves can be larger than historical ranges.

Access
Approved partners mint and redeem directly with the issuer at 1:1, subject to onboarding and partner terms. Individuals and businesses can also access ZARP through ecosystem partners.
Individuals and businesses can access ZARP through ecosystem partners. Each partner applies its own onboarding, fees and terms. Access is subject to applicable law, exchange control and partner terms.
Proof, not promises
The reserve is boring on purpose. It is cash at Old Mutual Wealth. Independent auditors count it. Reports come out each month. Anyone can check the supply on-chain.
R 91,640,675 in reserve vs R 84,221,016 in circulation
Supporting proof
The reserve holds R91.6 million in cash against R84.2 million in circulation. That is a 108.8% collateral ratio. Old Mutual Wealth manages the reserve. Kempen Audit attests it each month.
There are no banking hours, no weekend cut-offs, and no 3-day clearing. A ZARP transfer completes on-chain in seconds. Network fees are less than one rand on Base, Polygon, and Solana.
Rand obligations held in USD stablecoins move with the USD/ZAR rate. ZARP holds rand value as rand. A R100,000 float stays R100,000.
ZARP has the same contract address on Ethereum, Base, Polygon, and Gnosis. It is also native on Solana. Integrate one time. Deploy everywhere.
Live since 2021. Solidity Finance audited the smart contracts. The code is open source. ZARP is a member of the Stablecoin Standard.
Escrow, streaming payments, payroll splits, DeFi liquidity. If you can write it in a smart contract, you can do it with rand.
Build
ZARP has the same address on each EVM chain. Integrate one time. Deploy on all of them. Full notes and docs are on the Build page.
