Solution

Programmable settlement and reconciliation.

Settle merchants, suppliers and payouts in rand with on-chain finality. Every transfer carries its own record, so reconciliation is a query, not a file.

The operational problem

What the current flow costs you.

Card money arrives in one to three days and can be pulled back for months. EFT stops at cut-off. Reconciliation runs on end-of-day files and manual matching. Payment platforms carry float in transit and staff in operations to close the gap.

How ZARP changes the flow

Four steps, in rand, on-chain.

  1. Accept. A payer sends ZARP to your platform wallet, or your on-ramp partner converts rand on their behalf.
  2. Settle. You settle merchants and suppliers in ZARP on a schedule you define, from real time to end of day.
  3. Reconcile. Match each on-chain transfer to your ledger by hash. There are no chargebacks to hold reserves against.
  4. Redeem. Merchants hold ZARP or redeem to rand through a listed partner. Approved partners redeem at par with the issuer.

Example transaction journey

One transaction, end to end.

  1. A fleet operator funds a PumpPay fleet account in rand.
  2. A driver makes an authorised purchase at a participating fuel merchant.
  3. The purchase settles in ZARP on-chain. It is final on arrival, at any hour.
  4. The merchant holds ZARP or redeems to rand through an ecosystem partner.

Example journey based on PumpPay, a listed ZARP ecosystem partner for fuel payments: a funded fleet account, an authorised purchase, ZARP settlement and a merchant at the end. PumpPay listing. Read the PumpPay case study.

Illustrative estimate. Actual costs depend on partner, corridor, volume and applicable fees. Model assumptions: card acquiring at 2.75%, the midpoint of the 2% to 3.5% range typical for South African card acquiring. Bank and corridor averages: World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide, Q3 2025. ZARP rails: a 0.5% on-ramp fee, a 0.5% off-ramp fee and R2 in network fees per transaction. Float in settlement is monthly volume multiplied by settlement days over 30. Network and partner fees may apply. Not a quote.
