Solution

Treasury and institutional settlement in rand.

Hold operating float on-chain in the same unit as your obligations. Settle with counterparties at any hour. Approved partners enter and exit at par with the issuer, subject to partner terms.

The operational problem

What the current flow costs you.

Treasuries that hold on-chain float in a USD stablecoin carry USD/ZAR exposure on every rand obligation. A R5 million float can move by more than R200,000 in a month at historical volatility. Treasuries that stay in bank accounts inherit cut-offs and cannot settle on-chain counterparties.

How ZARP changes the flow

Four steps, in rand, on-chain.

  1. Onboard. Complete partner qualification and KYB. Register authorised wallets and custody, for example through Fireblocks.
  2. Mint. Send rands to the reserve account. ZARP mints the equal amount to your authorised wallet.
  3. Operate. Settle counterparties, fund programmes and pay out in ZARP at any hour.
  4. Redeem. Send tokens to the redemption address at any time. ZARP burns them and pays rands to your bank account.

Who it is for

Built for these teams.

Corporate treasuries

Operating rand on-chain with no drift and no cut-offs.

Institutional settlement desks

Counterparty settlement in rand with on-chain finality.

Programme managers

Float for card, payout and corridor programmes held in the unit of the obligation.

Example transaction journey

One transaction, end to end.

  1. A treasury mints 10,000,000 ZARP against R10,000,000 sent to the reserve.
  2. It settles a R2,400,000 supplier payment on a Saturday. The transfer is final in seconds.
  3. It funds a card programme wallet with 3,000,000 ZARP for the month.
  4. At month end it redeems 4,600,000 ZARP. The issuer burns the tokens and pays R4,600,000 to the treasury's bank account.

Instrument 02

The exposure a rand float avoids.

Set the balance you hold on-chain and the period. Outputs are illustrative, based on historical USD/ZAR movement.

Held in a USD stablecoin

Held in ZARP
R 5,000,000
± R 215,000 is the rand-value swing this balance is exposed to in a USD stablecoin over the period. Held and settled in ZARP the rand drift is zero by design. Your ledger, your prices and your obligations stay in one unit.

Illustrative, based on historical USD/ZAR movement. Not a forecast or financial advice. The bands come from typical historical USD/ZAR volatility of approximately 14% to 15% each year, scaled to the period. Currency moves can be larger than historical ranges.
